Members of the public are being invited to take part in a sponsored 25km walk from Lavenham to Bury St Edmunds next month.

At 9am on December 4 Cotswold Outdoor staff will lead a walk from Church Street, Lavenham, to their store in Abbeygate Street, Bury, where they will finish with mince pies, mulled wine and Christmas cheer.

The walk – which is also open to the public – will raise funds for Walking with the Wounded’s Walking Home for Christmas campaign which supports homeless and other vulnerable veterans.

Niall Pettitt, Cotswold Outdoor’s local marketing representative, said staff in Bury had organised a friendly competition with their colleagues in Ipswich and had already raised £250.

“It sounded like a bit of a challenge to start with but there’s a competition between us and the Ipswich store to see how far we can walk, how quickly we can do it and how much we can raise so we’re looking forward to the competition and to raising money for this worthwhile cause – there’s a buzz in store now,” he said.
