Hundreds of children took part in the Friends of Sebert Wood School’s Sponsored Adventure Trail on Friday.

A total of 360 pupils faced log challenges, scramble nets and skills challenges as they ran around a route through the Pond Covert Wood, along footpaths and around the school grounds.

As well as taking place during the school’s regular ‘Fitness Friday’ programme, the event serves as a major fund-raiser for the school, helping to source valuable play equipment and other resources for use by all the children.

It was organised by the parent teacher association, Friends of Sebert Wood School (FOSWS), with volunteers and staff marshalling the route and prizes awarded at the end.

Headteacher Peter Dewhurst said: “The FOSWS are really hopeful they can beat the impressive £2,000 that was raised from the event this time last year.”

Last week’s trail involved children from Years 1 and 6 but a further event is planned this month for the younger pupils.
