BURY St Edmunds paralympian Brian Alldis said he is shocked and honoured to have been nominated to carry the Olympic torch as it travel through Suffolk.
Today has seen the start of a nomination process that will see 8,000 people carry the Olympic torch. This morning has also seen the announcement of 74 stop over sites where the Olympic torch be kept overnight and celebrations will be held.
The torch will stay at Ipswich in July 5 before going onto Chelmsford and then Cambridge on July 7. The final route is to be announced later this year.
“Fingers crossed the torch will still come to Bury – it will be even better if I get a chance to carry it through my home town,” said Brian.
