A man charged with stealing thousands of pounds in cash from his Bury St Edmunds employer has appeared in court.

Lee Bryant, 31, of Selway Drive, Bury, pleaded not guilty to theft by employee at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

He is accused of stealing two envelopes containing cash to the value of £2,651 belonging to Uniparts Automotive, in Bury, on May 25.

He also pleaded not guilty to a charge of criminal damage.

It is alleged that, on the same day, he damaged a car window, value unknown, in Frenesi Crescent Green, which also belonged to Uniparts Automotive.
