A Bury St Edmunds bike retailer has been named as a sponsor for a charity bike ride, whose inaugral event last year raised thousands of pounds for St Nicholas Hospice Care.

Revel Outdoors, one of East Anglia’s biggest specialist bike shops, will sponsor the second Women of Wheels (WoW) event on Sunday, July 5. Attracting around 100 participants in 2014, the ride was inspired by the Friend’s Life Women’s Tour which will return to Bury this summer.

Sarah Wightman, who owns Revel Outdoors with husband Jamie, said: “The WoW ride is a fantastic initiative to help incentivise women and girls to ride their bikes.”

St Edmundsbury Borough Council cabinet member for leisure, Sarah Stamp, said: “I’m delighted such a well-respected local business has agreed to support this important event.”
