An author from Bury St Edmunds has penned a critically acclaimed debut novel, dark fantasy thriller Sentinel.

Following a string of excellent reviews, young author Joshua Winning will be signing copies of Sentinel in the Buttermarket branch of Waterstones tomorrow from 10.30am onwards.

Joshua, who grew up in the town, visited his old secondary school County Upper on Thursday to hold workshops for students interested in writing novels.

He was shocked to find that teachers had created a ‘shrine’ to the book in the school’s library.

The novelist, who is also a freelance film journalist for Total Film, said: “All of the students and teachers at County Upper were so supportive. I was quite moved by their interest.”

“It was so surreal to see my old teachers reading the book,” he added.
