Sixth formers at King Edward VI School are to act as its ambassadors by going back to their old primary schools.
Rob Walden, assistant head teacher at the Bury St Edmunds school, said the sixth formers wanted to revamp the school council and link up with their old schools.
He added: “Our students came up with the idea and we’ve supported it
“They’re going to work with their former primary schools. They can go in and act as teaching assistants and use their expertise.
“They’ll also talk to children about coming up to a high school.”
They hope that meeting the school’s senior students, will make mixing with older pupils at a new school less daunting
They will be working with schools that are members of the Bury Schools Partnership.
The sixth formers launched the programme at King Edward VI School’s sixth form open evening last night.
