The winner of the Bury Free Press Café of the Year 2014 is Baileys 2 Coffee House and Bistro.

Owners Dean and Louise Foster, who live about the Whiting Street, Bury St Edmunds, café with six-week old Archie, did not even know they had been nominated until they saw it in the paper.

Dean said: “I think it’s really nice on the part of our customers”.

They bought Baileys 2 just over five years ago, having run the tea shop at Ickworth House. They have 18 staff.

“Everything is home made, from the vinaigrette to the jams,” Dean said. “My background is as a pâtissier – we sell tons of cakes.”

Unlike the chains, he considers the cakes, which include gluten free, to be as important as the coffee.
