Work is set to continue after a burst water main caused chaos in Thetford today.
The burst main in Old Croxton Road was reported in the early hours of this morning.
It led to the closure of one lane of traffic and also to pupils being sent home from Thetford Academy.
Around 200 homes lost water for two hours but re-routing work allowed supplies to be reinstated by 10am.
Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service were also called in to assist with the disturbance.
A spokeswoman for Anglian Water said the burst water main was repaired by 3.30pm when all water supplies had been returned fully to normal.
Repairs, however, will continue to the road surface tomorrow.
Thetford Academy will reopen tomorrow morning, Tuesday, as normal, but the road at the front of the school will remain closed.
The Academy is urging students walking to school to use the back gate and those using the bus or being dropped off by car, to use the staff car park as a drop–off and collection point.
Students will be given access via the community entrance at the side.
A statement on the school’s website advises that the main car park is accessed from the A11 or coming from St Anne Bartholemew Close.
