GREENE King is to sponsor the Rwandan Olympic and Paralympic teams during their training for next year’s Olympic Games.
The Bury St Edmunds brewery will help the teams with their training equipment and official uniforms for the London 2012 Olympics and also help with the development of sport in Rwanda.
The Rwandan team training camp will be based at the West Suffolk Athletics Arena and host both Olympic and Paralymic contestants and trainers.
Six athletes will be competing in cycling, swimming and athletics while the Paralympic team, will field contestants in power lifting and athletics as well as the sitting volleyball team.
Dr Charles Rudakubana, president of the Rwanda Olympic team, said: “The Games training camp in Bury St Edmunds is vital for our athletes. It will allow our athletes to acclimatise to the British environment.
“Facilities in Bury St Edmunds are first class and our athletes will be able to train right up until they compete in London.
“We are very grateful to Greene King for their generous sponsorship.”
