The Suffolk branch of a cancer charity aims an auction of unique breast plaster casts will help them towards a £1 million fund-raising target.

The Breakthrough Breast Cancer Suffolk group needs £40,000 to reach the milestone and hopes to generate upto £250 for each of the 23 casts which are on auction until Nov 16.

The casts were made for Keri Bird’s Simply the Breast campaign and are based on a selection of courageous women affected by breast cancer. They were on display around various business venues in Bury St Edmunds last month.

Among those involved was Kerry Farrant, whose breast cast was created by local artist and policeman John Firth.

She had to have her left breast removed while carrying her unborn baby and endured four chemotherapy sessions. Her daughter Esmay has just started school and Kerry has had two further breast operations.

She said: “Although I don’t have any nipples or feeling in my breasts I’m happy with what I have and I’m happy to be alive.” Visit the-saleroom.com/simplythebreast
