A West Suffolk boutique hotel and coaching inn, which boasts quirky themed bedrooms and decor, has been named the ‘funkiest B&B in the whole of Great Britain’.
The Bull Inn, in Barton Mills, scooped the prestigious offbeat title from the AA just months after the organisation awarded the venue five gold stars.
The historic inn has been revamped since owners Cheryl Hickman and Wayne Starling took over in 2007.
Miss Hickman said: “To be even nominated was amazing for us. There were more than 3,000 eligible B&Bs.
“We wanted to create something a bit more fun and quirky rather than normal square boxes.”
The inn’s 15 bedrooms with eye-catching names such as the Lazy Cow, Zebra, Daisy and Princess rooms have an array of unique features including a double-ended slipper bath and Versailles bed.
The Bull Inn was nominated following an inspection by the AA.
Other talking points at the inn include the ‘tongue in cheek’ pub toilets with the images of ladies with magnifying glasses overlooking the men’s urinals. In the dining room there are chandeliers made from milk bottles alongside the original beams which have been returned to their former glory.
