MORE than 50 firefighters tackled a blaze at the Lakenheath Clay Target Centre on Saturday morning.

Eight fire engines, a turntable ladder and four water bowsers attended the ‘substantial fire’, which was confined to the gun club at the site, in Brandon Road, Eriswell.

The incident started at about 6.30am and fire crews remain at the scene.

A cause has yet to be determined.

Carl Francis, incident commander, said: “This was a substantial fire involving a building measuring 60 metres by 30 metres. It’s taken a few hours to get under control

“The issues around the cause of the fire are still under investigation.”
