Bail denied after alleged attack

A MAN accused of attempting to murder a US serviceman in Bury St Edmunds has been told he will not be released on bail.

It is alleged that Jonathan McNeely was attacked and stabbed during the early hours of New Year’s Day.

He was found with stab wounds at a flat in Gosnold Street.

On Wednesday, an application for bail to be granted for Siju Roseje, 30, of Robinson Way, in Wootton, Northampton, was heard at Ipswich Crown Court.

After hearing submissions from Roseje’s legal team and the Crown Prosecution Service, Judge John Holt ruled that Roseje, who was not present, should not be granted bail.

He faces a charge of attempted murder.

Three other men remain in custody facing the same charge.

They are Ryan Otto, 32, of Airfield Road, Bury St Edmunds, Rhys Hammond, 18, of Willow House, Rushbrooke, near Bury St Edmunds and Peter Raeburn, 32, of Macquarie Quay, Eastbourne
