A 22-year-old has described the attacker who left him with severe facial injuries as a ‘coward’.
The victim, who did not want to be named, was left with his lip ‘hanging off’ and needing facial surgery after the assault in Canons Walk, Thetford, last Wednesday morning.
He said the attack took place when he was going to collect his two-year-old son at around 10.30am.
“I was walking down an alleyway talking on the phone, when somebody hit me on the back of the head.
“When I came round they were stamping on my face,” he said.
The attacker ran away without taking anything, before the victim managed to call for help.
He was taken to West Suffolk Hospital before being transferred to Ipswich to see a facial surgeon where he was given ten stitches in his lip.
He said he had ‘no idea’ why he had been attacked.
“I’m a very placid person and keep myself to myself - I certainly don’t have any enemies.
“It’s worrying because if I’d had my son with me you never know what could have happened.
“It’s just cowardly, to attack someone from behind,” he said.
Anyone who witnessed the incident should call Police on 101.
