COREY Lee narrowly avoided prison for assaulting a man he mistook for someone else.
Lee, 22, was sentenced to 12 months prison suspended for 18 months on Wednesday at Ipswich Crown Court after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing to a charge of assault causing grievous bodily harm, as we reported last week.
Lee, of Mustow Street, Bury St Edmunds, had been drinking and mistook his victim, Peter Finn, for a man who had previously assaulted him.
Lee, who will remain under Probation Service supervision for 18 months, will also be required to complete 200 hours of unpaid community work and pay £300 compensation to his victim. Lee will have to take part in “Thinking Skills” and alcohol programmes.
