Arrests after Hawkedon straw stack fire

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire which damaged £11,000 worth of straw bales.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident at 3.45pm yesterday afternoon in a field in Rede Road, Hawkedon, opposite a veterinary surgery.

Police are particularly keen to hear from anybody who witnessed any suspicious vehicles in the village yesterday afternoon.

Yesterday evening officers arrested three men from Haverhill, aged 23, 21 and 19, on suspicion of arson in relation to this incident. They were taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation centre where they are currently being questioned.
