BURY St Edmunds is gearing up for a packed programme of events to celebrate Armed Forces Day.
A specially commissioned Armed Forces Day flag will be raised on the Abbeygate flagpole on June 20 at 10.30am.
Crowds are expected to line the streets to cheer 15 Squadron RAF Regiment for its homecoming parade, which starts at 11am on June 25 on Angel Hill.
Free family fun can be found in the Abbey Gardens that same day with live music, vintage market selling clothes, jewellery, and homeware from the 1920s and 80s, displays and children’s games.
A flypast of Spitfires at 12.40pm will herald the arrival of an Apache helicopter from 3 Army Air Corps, Wattisham, at 1pm.
On June 24, the sound stage in the Abbey Gardens will host Coldplay tribute band Coldplace in a fund-raising concert for Help for Heroes from 7pm. Phill Harrington on his acoustic guitar will kick off the evening’s entertainment followed by the Inverse Oreo. Organised by Six Whiting Street, tickets are available from Six Whiting Street, Farthings Dry Cleaners, Tourist Information and the Abbey Gardens Gift Shop.
Another concert for the charity is in the gardens on June 26, with BurySOUND presenting a line up of local bands. Tickets can be bought from Hardcore Hobbies, Bury Bus Station, Soundsplus and Tourist Information.
