Mildenhall Sea Cadets can embark on voyages safe in the knowledge they will remain warm and dry thanks to a donation towards the cost of cagoules.
The cadets group was awarded £1,000 from Forest Heath District Councillor Malcom Smith’s locality budget to purchase the waterproof jackets, which have watertight neck and wrist seals.
Cllr Smith said: “We cannot always relay on perfect weather and the purchase of these jackets will help to get the children out on the water more often. I am delighted to be able to offer support like this developing the potential of young people in our community. “
Angela Shipp, Chairman of Mildenhall Sea Cadets, said: “These jackets will give us more boating hours which, in turn, will enable the cadets to gain more boating qualifications.”
