ALISON Head had a tense wait to find out if she had a part in the English Youth Ballet's production of Giselle.
The 15-year-old from Thurston said: “There were 88 girls in my audition and I was number 88 as they went along the lines saying who had been chosen. Then they walked all the way down my line until they got to me.
“I was really, really pleased. The competition was so high to get in. There were really amazing young dancers there."”
She is in the second year of a Performing Arts (Dance) course at West Suffolk College and was among the top 100 ballet students selected from 200 applicants for parts in the ballet, which will be performed at Norwich Theatre Royal, in June.
The only other stage show Alison has danced in was Bury Operatic Society's Carousel. But she does not think she wants to become a professional ballet dancer. “I would prefer to go into something with a wider range,” she said.
At the end of her West Suffolk course, Alison will go to one of the top dance schools in the UK, The Performers’ College in Essex, then hopes to take a degree course at the Urdang dance school in London.
