Agri-students get scholarships to help with studies

Two students from West Suffolk have been given scholarships by Harper Adams University.

Beth Duchesne, 21, of Bury St Edmunds, who attended West Suffolk College and King Edward VI School, is in the final year of her BSc (Hons) Agriculture with Farm Business Management course and a Syngenta scholar.

She said: “The Scholarship has made a huge difference to my time here at Harper Adams.”

Jess Pemberton, 19,a Thurston Community College pupil from Combs, is a second year BSc (Hons) Agriculture and Animal Science student at Harper Adams.

She was awarded the Dalehead Foods Technical scholarship, which again includes financial support plus a paid work placement, which Jess will undertake during the next academic year.

She said: “It’s a fantastic opportunity to enable me to gain hands-on experience in the pig industry; to work in such a highly-respected company is a great privilege.”
