Abbeycroft Leisure, which runs Bury Leisure Centre, is taking over running the wellbeing sanctuary The Self Centre next month.
The Self Centre, in Kempson Way, Moreton Hall, provides classes in yoga, pilates, tai chi and meditation plus complementary therapies, hairdresser and coffee shop.
Abbeycroft, a charitable trust and social enterprise, says it will maintain the ethos of the Self Centre which will be run separately to its ‘core leisure facilities’.
Carole Baker, who founded centre in 2005, said: “After 10 years of hard work, it is time for me to move onto other exciting projects in the health and wellness industry.
“I will still be involved with teaching classes and will be assisting Abbeycroft in developing The Self Centre’s community programmes.”
Abbeycroft will bring musculoskeletal physiotherapy and back and neck services to the Centre in partnership with Allied Health Professionals Suffolk. Warren Smyth, Abbeycroft chief executive, said: “There is a wonderful opportunity to provide a service which will allow patients to look at supplementing their physio and with yoga, pilates and complementary therapies.”
