A great-grandmother who can boast never to have driven a car, choosing instead to ‘cycle everywhere,’ celebrated her 100th birthday on Thursday.

London-born Dorothy ‘Doris’ Truin, well known as a former barmaid at The Crown in Bildeston and a former Hartest school cook, was surrounded by friends and family during her birthday party at Cedar Lodge Care Home, in Culford, last week.

“She takes it in her stride,” said her daughter Margaret Horrex, 75.
