Children can now cross Westgate Street, in Bury St Edmunds, in safety after a zebra crossing was installed.
The new crossing, near the junction of Westgate Street and Crown Street, was installed after parents raised fears about the safety of crossing the road to nearby primary schools.

Parent Emma Dale lobbied for action and now the £15,000 scheme has been completed. Funding came from county councillor Paul Hopfensperger's locality budget, Cllr David Lockwood's locality budget, St Edmundsbury Borough Council's small works budget and the county council's on-street parking fund.

Cllr Hopfensperger said: "I'm pleased to see it up and running. It works and has been accomplished in less than eight months."
