Graffiti artists, DJs and a professional break dance tutor joined more than 600 teenagers at the second annual event held at the Western Way skate park on Sunday.

Simon Pickering, youth and community development officer for St Edmundsbury Borough Council, said: "We have got a lot of talented young people and we wanted to put that in a positive light.

"I am always amazed at how good people are in this area."

Organised by the borough council, the free event was designed to boost the skate park and give youngsters the chance to learn new skills.

Skateboarders, BMXers and inline skaters enjoyed the summer sunshine and won prizes at the event, sponsored by Hardcore Hobbies shop in St John's Street, Bury.

Mr Pickering said: "Young people need to feel they are part of their community.

"There is lots of stuff going on for young people and ways to pick up new skills."
