AUDIENCES will get the chance to interview one of Britain's best-loved actors when he appears at the Theatre Royal, in Bury St Edmunds.
Peter Sallis, 87, who is most famous for his portrayal of Norman Clegg in the long-running television series The Last of the Summer Wine and as the voice of Wallace in the Oscar-winning Wallace and Gromit animation films, will star in An Audience with Peter Sallis on May 24.
Mr Sallis said: "I will be in conversation with Samantha Norman, who is a journalist and presenter, for the first half of the show and after the interval, the audience can ask me anything they like.
"I have done all sorts of things – TV, film, radio plays and I published my autobiography in 2006, called Fading Into The Limelight, but the highlight of my career was working with Hal Prince, the American theatre producer, and performing in the musicals Cabaret and Baker Street.
"I have never been to the Theatre Royal, in Bury, but Suffolk is my favourite county and I am looking forward to the show very much indeed.
"It will be great because I love showing off. I pretend to be modest, but I'm conceited as hell."
Tickets are available from the theatre box office on 01284 769505.
