HEALTHY eating was on the menu for pupils at King Edward VI School, in Bury St Edmunds, last week when they took part in a food roadshow.
On Friday, the cook for success roadshow, organised by the School Food Trust, encouraged students to eat healthily by showing good and bad food choices.

Opposing kitchens were set up showing a healthy and manufactured approach to preparing the same meals, focusing upon the importance of fresh and healthy ingredients as opposed to additives and preservatives.

Geoff Barton, headteacher, said: “We take healthy eating seriously and have radically changed school meals. The roadshow was a great way of getting that message across to the pupils.”

The event, which has taken place across many Suffolk schools, was aimed at celebrating the role school cooks play in providing nutritious food for pupils.

As well as live cookery demonstrations, the roadshow also featured interviews with cooks and video messages from celebrity chefs.
