People with a head for heights are being sought for a fund-raising event that will see volunteers abseil from Ickworth House.
The National Trust is offering the chance to scale down the side of Ickworth's iconic Rotunda in September as part of its bid to raise £450,000 for a new project at the property.

Money raised will go towards its Real Lives scheme, which will see the kitchens and servants' quarters of the Rotunda opened as they would have been in Edwardian times, bringing alive the memories of those who worked at the house.

Those who take part in the event, on September 20, will be able to see the top of the building up close – as well as enjoying views over the countryside before they make their descent.

The Heritage Lottery Fund has already awarded the project £999,500, and the National Trust is asking participants to raise a minimum of £500 sponsorship to help them reach their target.

Anyone over 16 who is interested in taking part should contact Lisa Smith at lisa.smith@nationaltrust.org.uk or on 01284 747500.
