Glam rock glitter will help to raise cash for Leukaemia Research in a tribute gig to a music fan from Thurston who died of the disease.
Friends and family of Dave Allum will strut their stuff in platforms and jumpsuits at a Glambusters night at British Sugar Social Club, in Bury St Edmunds, on Saturday, September 6.

Dave's son, Brett, 35, came up with the idea for the event when he met former band mates from the Glambusters at his dad's funeral and they offered their services free.

Mr Allum, of Etna Road, Bury, said: "Dad was all for people having a good time and he loved live music. We wanted to remember him in a good way."

Dave Allum, formerly of School Road, in Thurston, died of leukaemia in February after an eight-month battle with the disease.

Mr Allum was a fan of 1970s music and had worked as a roadie for glam rock bands in his youth.

Fancy dress is optional for the Glambusters night, which will raise money for the Leukaemia Research Forget-Me-Not fund.

Brett said: "If dad could see us all, he would be happy to see everyone having fun."

Tickets for the event are available from British Sugar Social Club priced £8 in advance on 01284 753154 and £10 on the door.
