A cocktail is not often the drink of choice for those on a January detox - but the people behind the Jazz Katz think their tipple has plenty of health benefits.
The drink, designed by the Devil's Kitchen Collective jazz club, is the perfect way to beat the post-Christmas blues, according to the club's hostess, Fiona Kerr.
Miss Kerr said the cocktail was created with help from Mike Kewell, of the Chantry Hotel, in Bury St Edmunds, in honour of legendary 'jazz katz' Geoff Castle, Frank Holder and Stan Robinson - who are due to perform at the Hunter Club, St Andrew's Street South, tomorrow.
"In the post-Christmas and New Year period there is a general feeling of anti-climax," she said.
"On New Year's Eve we were thinking it was going to feel a bit flat in January, so the cocktail is to help pick us up."
Despite the alcohol, the creators say the mixture of gin, crème de cassis and soda, with blackberry and blueberry juice and a dash of lime, is a healthier option.
Deborah Lumley-Holmes, of Pure Bliss Spa Treatments, who tasted the drink, said the berries contain anti-toxins, the gin's juniper berries aid the liver and kidneys, and the lime and soda help digestion.
The drink can be ordered at tomorrow's show, with doors opening at 6.30pm and music starting from 7pm.
