Builder trapped in trench

A builder had to be rescued by firefighters after becoming trapped by his lower legs after falling into a two metre deep trench that then collapsed.
The accident happened in Eldred Close, Bury St Edmunds, at around 1.43pm yesterday.

Firefighters from Bury attended the incident along with a rescue team with specialists from Felixstowe and Stowmarket and a doctor and paramedics.

Airbags, spades and shovels had to be used to release him.

He was taken to West Suffolk Hospital, in Bury.
