Work has begun on a long-awaited superstore, in Western Way, Bury St Edmunds.
Plans were approved for the ASDA store by St Edmundsbury Borough Council in November last year, after a successful campaign by residents.

The 5,958sqm store, to be developed on the site of the former Co-op Pioneer shop, is set to be completed by spring 2009.

Work on the store was expected to get under way in September but passers-by could this week see signs of life as rubbish and debris began to pile up.
