DANNY Laws insists that Needham Market FC can still score a clean sweep of trophies this season.
Not only does the Bloomfields-based club hold a one-point advantage at the top of the Ridgeons League Premier Division table, but it is still firing in no less than five cup competitions.

A hectic end of season run-in lies ahead for the Reds, including a FA Vase quarter-final tie, semi-finals in the Suffolk Premier Cup and League Cup and second and third-round matches in the Harwich Charity Cup and East Anglian Cup respectively.

Tomorrow though, Laws' side, who are unbeaten in 25 games in all competitions, aim to build on another fine week of results when they travel to Wroxham for a league fixture (ko 3pm).

Needham raced into the quarter-finals of the Vase on Saturday after a 4-0 replay win against St Ives (match report on page 75), before returning to the top of the league following a dramatic 4-3 victory at Histon Res on Wednesday.

"It has been a tremendous week for us," said Laws.

"The performance against St Ives was one of our best this season because we dominated from the first whistle to the last. I was delighted for every one of our players because they all did very well, " he added.

Laws is undaunted by the task ahead for his young side and believes there is no reason why their success cannot continue.

"People keep telling me that the high number of games we have to play will eventually catch up with us and our form will suffer.

"But winning is a habit and we have to try and win every game we take part in. Why can't we win every competition?

"There is a lot of work to be done before we win anything yet, but we will keep working hard and see where it takes us," he added.

Centre-back Rhys Barber celebrated his 100th appearance for the club with two goals in the midweek win, before strikes from Nathan Szyszlyk and Paul Berry confirmed another three points.

It is a case of one in and one out ahead of tomorrow's clash against their third-placed hosts. Glenn Snell is unavailable, but Andy Jones returns to the squad after work commitments.

The Reds are back in cup action on Tuesday, travelling to Leiston for an East Anglian Cup third-round tie (ko 7.45pm).
