NEEDHAM Market FC team manager Danny Laws remained upbeat despite his side's heartbreaking FA Vase semi-final exit on Saturday.
"Of course we are all extremely disappointed after coming so close to reaching Wembley," he said.

"However, while it was not our most fluent display of the season by any means, I cannot fault any of my players for what was an immense effort.

"Both teams were pushing hard in the second half and a goal from either team was going to determine the outcome.

"We were either going to grab the all-important equaliser, or Kirkham were going to hit us on the break. Unfortunately, it was the latter."

More than anything, Laws was disappointed for the record breaking 1,375-strong crowd - who turned out under terrible weather conditions – in a bid to cheer the Reds in to the final on May 11.

"I have to admit, I never expected the crowd to be as big as it was.

"There was an incredible atmosphere and I want to thank everyone who turned out in support of Needham. It was just a shame we could not win it for them.

"But, credit must also be given to Kirkham who probably deserved to go through over the two legs."
