Football: It's all move at Hall
THE comings and goings at Mildenhall Town FC have continued unabated this week.
Perhaps the most surprising move is the return of defender Graham Rush –the tall right-back having been released by Town last month.
Following a spell with Biggleswade, Rush is back at Recreation Way and will feature in Hall's Ridgeons League Premier Division trip to Walsham-le-Willows tomorrow (ko 3pm).
Also expected to make a move to Hall is Haverhill Rovers' left-back Jamie Thurlbourne, who is expected to open talks with Mildenhall team manager Dave Pinkowski today.
Meanwhile, after only two months at the club, striker Mark Angel has been released after failing to secure a first-team place and young central midfielder Ryan Foster has rejoined Ryman League Division One North outfit Bury Town.
Pinkowski is also expected to end Andy Hughes' loan spell from Cambridge City this weekend.
"Some of the players I have brought into the club have not responded in the way I would have liked and they either have or will move on," said Pinkowski.
"As regards the return of Graham, I am big enough to admit I was a bit hasty in releasing him. He is a useful player to have and I am delighted to have him back."
Fifth-placed Mildenhall aim to build on a convincing 5-1 home victory against Felixstowe & Walton United on Saturday (match report on page 74).
However, tomorrow's Summer Road-based opponents hold a strong home record, losing just one of their last five, and the Town chief anticipates a tight game.
"Walsham are a neat and tidy side and very good on their own patch. But we are certainly looking for three points and we will have to be at our best if we are to achieve that."
James Tatham will miss the match due to family commitments, while Matt Robinson remains sidelined with a hamstring problem. Left-winger Paul Musgrove is set to start against his former club.
On Tuesday, Hall turn their attention to Cambridgeshire Invitation Cup semi-final matters when Blue Square South side Cambridge City are the visitors to Recreation Way (ko 7.45pm).
The competition is the club's last chance to win silverware this season and despite going into the match as underdogs, Pinkowski is hopeful of an upset.
"The beauty of the cup is that anything can happen. If we can get a big home crowd then we might just do it," he added.
