IN-FORM Mildenhall Town FC have been dealt a double injury blow ahead of two important Ridgeons League Premier Division fixtures.
Tomorrow, fourth-placed Hall have the chance to move within two points of Wroxham when they host the Norfolk club at Recreation Way (ko 3pm). Two days later, the team travel to Stanway Rovers looking to avenge a humiliating 5-0 FA Vase third-round de
feat in December.
But, winger Paul Musgrove has been ruled out for two weeks with a groin injury and fellow wide man Stephen Spriggs is expected to miss the Easter weekend programme after sustaining an ankle problem in the goalless draw against Leiston on Saturday (match report on page 71).
Team manager Dave Pinkowski (left) said, “Stephen will undergo a late fitness test but it is not looking great at the moment.
“To have two quality wingers out of action at the same time would be a major blow.”
Cambridge City youngster Ricky Campbell will replace Musgrove on the left, while Matt Robinson will take Spriggs’ position on the right of midfield.
Town go into the game following three consecutive clean sheets and seven games unbeaten in the league – a run that has delighted Pinkowski.
“We are improving all the time and our recent results are proof of that,” he said. “But Wroxham will provide us with our toughest test in a long time.
“Stanway are another very good team with pace to burn throughout the side. They thrashed us in the Vase and we are certainly looking to improve on that performance.”
Town still have to host table-toppers Soham Town Rangers and second-placed Needham Market before a rearranged away fixture against Wroxham before the end of the season. The Hall team chief insists his team can play a crucial role in determining which club eventually lifts the league title in May.
“On paper, it is a tough run-in, but I say bring it on,” said Pinkowski. “On our day, we are as good as any of the top three sides and so it will be interesting to see how many points we can accumulate over the final part of the season.”
