Youngsters from a Mildenhall primary school spent an afternoon learning what it would be like to be a vet.
Aquarius Veterinary Centre, in Field Road, opened to around 60 pupils from St Mary's Primary School on Thursday.

Kayley Amoss, from the centre, said they invited the children every year to tour the operating theatre and play with animals specially brought in by the vets.

She said: "They get to ask us questions and we get to talk about what we do. We try to make them feel like they're real vets."

The children, all aged five, saw some fake operations, with the vets using teddy bears to demonstrate, and looked at X-rays. They also helped to give animals a quick health check.

Lucy Smith, who teaches early years at the school, said: "The children are absolutely fascinated by it all."
