The next J.K. Rowling or Roald Dahl could be amongst a talented group of Mildenhall schoolchildren who have been testing their creative writing skills.
St Mary's Primary School, in Mildenhall, Beck Row Primary School and West Row Primary School have joined forces to inspire their pupils to write with a project called Write on Time.

Over three days in May, each school was visited by local authors, illustrators and teachers, as well as representatives from the National History Museum and Suffolk Wildlife Trust, who led the children in activities which they then wrote about.

The youngsters got to show-off their work to parents at a special display in Beck Row Community Centre on Monday. They also put on dance and drama pieces which had been inspired from their experiences.

Lucy Smith, literacy co-ordinator at St Mary's Primary School, said: "It's been very successful. Not only was it about raising children's attainment in writing, but also to encourage parents and teachers from the three schools to work together."
