FOR many youngsters summer is a time for rest and relaxation, but for those at Zebra Science it was a time to discover the world in new ways.
Zebra Science Summer Club, held at the Moreton Hall Youth Centre in July and August, gave keen young scientists, aged from six to 12, the chance to take part in scientific activities, including dissecting owl pellets and making replica fossils.
Science teachers Neil Bleay and Karen Scott decided to set up the club, offering hands-on science workshops, after Mr Bleay was made redundant last year and it has proved ‘a big success’.
Miss Scott said: “What children enjoy is trying stuff out themselves and being hands-on and that’s what we believe science is all about.”
The next club will be held on October 28. For details go to www.zebrascience.co.uk
