SIGHTSEERS will be able to get a rare view of Mildenhall this weekend – from 120ft up.
St Mary’s Church in the centre of the town will be opening its tower to the public for the only time this year.
Offering views as far as Ely Cathedral and the Elveden war memorial, more than 200 people climbed the steps at last year’s opening.
Ann Leeks, who is helping to organise the day, said the tower opened to coincide with this weekend’s cycling rally.
“It’s a beautiful view from up there and all the money raised goes towards running the church,” she said.
The tower will open from 2pm to 5pm on Sunday and from 10am to 4pm on Monday. Entry is £2.50 and you must be at least 10-years-old. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
