PARENT power won when a new play area for under-fives opened near West Suffolk College.

Annie Page, Adam Fennelow, Tom Gowanlock, Alec More and Ani Brookes secured £15,000 for play equipment for preschool children next to facilities for older children on the St Peter’s Pit Play Area, in Risbygate Street, Bury St Edmunds.

Annie said: “There was nothing within walking distance of this neighbourhood for under-fives. It’s somewhere parents, grandchildren and child minders can bring little children.”

Funds came from West Suffolk College, St Edmundsbury Borough Council, Havebury Housing Partnership, Suffolk County Council, the Suffolk Foundation, Waitrose and many private donors.
