DARING members of a fitness group have become a global internet phenomenon after winning an international competition.
Lou Freezer’s Thetford-based Zumba group stunned shoppers at Tescos in August with a ‘flash mob’ dance extravaganza in the aisles.
The stunt was filmed for a global video competition to find how people take time out of their day to take part in Zumba classes.
The video soon spread online – getting more than 40,000 hits on YouTube – and despite the competition pulling in 1,000 entries, the group scooped the $5,000 first prize.
Ms Freezer said: “I can’t believe it – it was such a last minute thing and I didn’t think we’d have a chance.”
The prize money will be spent on a party to celebrate the win at the Carnegie Rooms in Thetford.
