Vote for your audience favourite

Four bands will take to the stage on Friday night for the first heat of BurySOUND 2008.

And YOU can have a say in who reaches the final - thanks to a text and email vote.

There will be one judges' winner on Friday and another from the second heat on October 31.

This year, the Bury Free Press is hosting a text-vote so the audience and readers of the BFP can vote, too. The band receiving the most texts and email votes will also reach the fnial on November 14.

Text details will be circulated on each heat night. In advance, simply text BURYSOUND followed by a space and your choice for audience favourite to 81800. The band with the most texts hits the final. 81800 texts cost 60p plus your standard network charge. This will be charged to your mobile phone bill. By supplying your telephone number you're happy to receive SMS/MMS messages from Johnston Press (JP) and its approved partners. JP (or via its agents) and its business partners may contact you about new promotions, products & services. Messages must not exceed 160 characters per text. Please add the word EXIT at the end of your message if you do not wish to receive these. For quality and training purposes we may monitor communications. SMS services are provided by g8wave Ltd, London N7.

You can also simply email the newsdesk with your favourite after both heats. Votes received beforehand will not qualify. You simply need to leave your name and a contact phone number so we can verify the votes if necessary.

Tickets are already selling well for all three nights – October 17, October 31 and November 14 – and each heat will be opened by the guest bands My Little Red Door and Vanilla Kicks.

The heat one line-up includes Head-Full, Amberlight, Luv Dump and Suicide Dollz. Heat two sees Selective Walk, Beneath The Inferno, Solstice and, the latest band to be announced, It's Not Me, It's You.

Tickets are available from Soundsplus, in Risbygate Street, Bury Bus and Coach Station, in St Andrew's Street North, and the Tourist Information Centre, on Angel Hill.
