Village plans its first art fest
PICTURE-perfect Lavenham will be holdings its first art festival this year.
The medieval village, which featured in a Harry Potter film, will be hosting about 20 local and nationally known artists in a meet the artist/open studio event on the bank holiday weekend of May 5-7.
The artists include painters, sculptors, potters, a stone carver, glass artist, printmakers and photographers and all the town’s art galleries will all have special displays.
In addition, artists will be giving live art demonstrations in marquees in the Marketplace, as well as their own studios.
The attractive gardens of Lavenham Hall will be filled with Kate Denton’s life-sized sculptures of horses, deer, birds, hares and people in bronze and bronze resin.
The grade I listed De Vere house’s owner Jane Ranzetta will be staging an exhibition of silk painter Amanda Clement-Robinson’s work.
Children will be able to show their artistic skills by taking part in a panorama painting project in the Guildhall, which will also host an art exhibition.
The Little Hall will house an exhibition of printmakers’ and weavers’ work.
