Quentin Blake, one of the world’s favourite illustrators of children’s books, is best known for his association with Roald Dahl’s books.

His mischievous characters have amused and charmed three generations and Diss Corn Hall Gallery is offering the chance to meet more of them at a free exhibition from January 4 to February 2.

The Gallery says: “We are delighted to be holding an exhibition of Blake’s first original etchings and lithographs, made to celebrate his 80th birthday.

“This show is ‘off the page’ as none of the work comes from his book illustrations, but is entirely derived from the artist’s imagination and experience.”

Based around three themes — Girl and Bird, Girl and Dog and Insects — this will be the first exhibition of the work following its launch by London’s prestigious Marlborough Fine Art in December.
