Go back in time in the heart of modern-day Stowmarket with a visit to the Museum of East Anglian Life.

Discover the history and natural world of this part of the world, traditional crafts, the Gypsy way of life and about farming in days gone by.

Meet the Suffolk Trinity of animals – the Red Poll cattle, Suffolk sheep and the mighty Suffolk Punch horse – as well as the museums goats, chickens, rabbits and array of other animals.

Old farm machinery regularly comes out of retirement for displays or if you prefer a quieter time, take in the 300-year-old gardens or the 3km of woodland, ideal for a gentle stroll and picnic.

Discover 15 restored, historic buildings and find time for some refreshment in the museum bistro which uses fresh, local produce.

The Museum of East Anglian Life can be found in Iliffe Way opposite Asda in the heart of Stowmarket.

Opening times: Monday to Saturday 10am to 5pm, Sunday 11am to 5pm and every Thursday in August the museum will be open until 8pm.

Admission: 6.50 for adults, 5.50 for concessions and 3.50 for children.
