More cash from party fund
MORE than 230 communities across Norfolk have had a slice of the county’s Year of Celebrations 2012 Fund.
The final £19,775 slice of the fund was announced on Friday with 138 more communities joining the 95 announced in March.
They include a Jubilee fete and barbecue in Methwold on June 2, opened by the Carnival Queen from 1952/3 with 1950s style fete games.
The fund will see £35,450 shared between 233 communities, receiving grants of between £75 and £300 to be used to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, Olympics, Paralympics and the Olympic Torch Relay.
Ian Mackie, Norfolk County Council’s deputy leader, who is overseeing the council’s Jubilee activities, said: “I am delighted the county council has been able to play a part in supporting the fantastic events taking place in so many communities across Norfolk in this exciting summer.”
