A BRAND new arts festival comes to Bury St Edmunds in October with a combined sharing of arts platforms throughout the town.

The OctoBury Fair will showcase a range of cultural events throughout the month.

Partners will include the Theatre Royal, St Edmundsbury Cathedral, The Apex, Abbeygate Picturehouse, Smiths Row Art Gallery and Bury Records Office.

The ‘mini’ festival will also feature ‘free at 5’ events with free taster sessions popping up at unexpected venues, giving people the chance to enjoy a culture shot after their working day.

Organisers are also hoping that restuarants and eateries will become involved by offering pre-theatre/event meal deals.

The joint promotion aims to increase audiences for each organisation taking part and is not seeking special funding for the programme.

Chris Grady, one of the organisers, said: “We’re delighted to be gathering events into a shared showcase.

“It’s a busy time for all of us and we thought it would be a great time to have an additional celebration and share promotion of our varied events.”

Organisers are keen to hear from performers who would like to be involved in the ‘free at 5’ events

Any organisations wanting to get involved in Octobury can contact Chris on chris@theatreroyal.org
