Krysten Newby, 20, who studies graphic design at West Suffolk College, will have her logo used on the competition’s promotional material including t-shirts, posters, flyers and badges.

Six designs from young people aged between 16 and 24 were looked at by a panel of BurySound judges.

Simon Pickering, Youth and Community Officer for St Edmundsbury Borough Council and one of the judges, said picking a winner was a very difficult task.

He said: “This competition has been brilliant with such talented young designers and artists coming forward with their design ideas, it was very difficult to choose an overall winner.

“It has been so successful that we are going to run it again next year.

“We are looking forward to the winning design being on show as part of this year’s promotional materials.”

For winning the competition Krysten received an iPod shuffle and headphones and will have her design printed onto a smart phone case.

She will also receive guidance from Oli Shilling of Cubiq Design in Newmarket to put the finishing touches on her logo.

Krysten thanked the judges for picking her design.

She said: “I am super keen and excited that my design was chosen.

“This is going to be brilliant for my portfolio which I need to be strong in order to get a good job.”
