It’s Aces high for winning pup
A Doberman puppy has proved he’s truly an ace after being named winning puppy at the recent Suffolk Dog Day at Helmingham Hall.
He has also become an ace companion to his young owner.
When Lynne Whiting lost her previous Doberman, Sampson, to cancer it was a devastating blow for her son Josh, now 11, as the two had been lifelong companions.
Ace joined the Thurston family just under a year ago and has proved more than capable of filling the gap left by Sampson.
Lynne said: “We had Sampson when Josh was just 18 months and they grew up together and when we had to put Samspon down Josh really missed him. Ace is like his long lost friend.
“We went to the show for a family fun day and because Ace will be going to Crufts next year I thought I’d enter him for practice. It was a complete shock when we won.”
Ace has already been winning rosettes as he has taken part in obedience class competitions and Lynne is aiming to take him to agility classes.
She said: “You get a stigma attached to Dobermans but they are dogs which like a lot of stimulation. He’s very friendly, loves children and loves being around people.”
The Suffolk Dog Day is a countywide fun event organised by the Suffolk Foundation.
